In collaboration with PUCRS’ Nucleo de Estudo da Cidade and IFHP, the first 1 day seminar has been a very successful kick off of the Co-operatives LAB. The issue at stake confirmed to be extremely relevant within informal housing upgrade and deserves a proactive follow up in the coming months. Meanwhile the first platform of important stakeholders is set up.
SPcitI took actively part into the first Public Spaces International Congress at FAU-PUCRS in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Four intense days of debate and knowledge sharing about a critical topic that is getting more and more attention concerning quality of collective shared spaces.
The commitment of the Gothenburg Ringön workshop (2013) is bearing its first results. The steering group formed by the municipality and the local entrepreneur is regularly gathering, the public space along Jämmalmsgatan has been refurbished, the top of a warehouse has been turned into a gallery and meeting centre, whilst a group of artists is giving a new switch to the area.
In 2021 for the 400 years jubilee of Gothenburg, the first part of the redevelopment of the former harbour area has to be realised. On the way to it, the Workshop Spring Series has delivered into summer! After this third workshop the results will be used as input for the legal plan of the first phase of Frihamnen.

Thanks to LBBF and Spark, SPcitI’s first scoping mission in Monrovia has accomplished an intense series of meetings with site visits and openings for consistent dialogue among the different stakeholders.
We look forward towards the establishment of the first Liberian Special Economic Social Enterprise Zone.
