Bernardina Borra is co-founder of The Spontaneous City International. She is an architect, urban designer and researcher and is an expert in co-operative processes in urban development.
Bernardina has more than 10 years of experience working on a wide range of projects including housing, working areas, master planning and space revitalization, all displaying her critical thinking and proactivity in turning stakeholders into agents of change. Her comprehensive approach and keen attention to detail have led her successfully through different practices and studios in Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Bernardina holds a MSc of Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, Roma Tre University in Italy, a post-grad degree from the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam and a PhD from TU Delft in the Netherlands. She is member of the Professional Association of Architects in Italy and is part of the architecture collective Milktrain.
Her strong interest in visual arts has led her to curating several exhibitions and events such as the Venice Biennale. She also co-authored and edited several publications on topics such as collective housing and sex work and urbanism.
Bernardina writes for different architectural magazines and participates regularly, as a moderator and a keynote speaker, to round tables and seminars. She has lectured at the Roma Tre University and at the Academy of Architecture in Rotterdam and has been a jury member of multiple architectural competitions.
Bernardina is fluent in Italian, English, French, Dutch and Spanish.
