Amsterdam, The Netherlands | 2017

The ISIGE – Institut supérieur d’ingénierie et gestion de l’environnement – of Mines ParisTech, asked SPcitI to organize and guide a week trip: Amsterdam, Circulaire et Innovante Voyage Urbain. The institute offers an environmental management program, designed to train experts, and managers able to understand international environmental challenges and to develop innovative solutions.

The trip’s agenda included presentations, discussions and site visits.

Its themes spanned from technical sustainability issues, to pilot solutions at work in Amsterdam, addressing both social and economic challenges and how several city departments or entrepreneurs and collectives are dealing with them in innovative ways. Visits included new urban developments and relevant areas such as IJburg, Oostelijk havengebied, NDSM, Buiksloterham, Amsterdam Harbour, but also pioneer initiatives such as makerversity, Zero Waste Lab, Boost and LolaLik. Presentations and debates framed all activities bundling all feeds along the days on the city and its evolution in relation to the water, circularity and the lessons learned from post-industrial Amsterdam, social inclusion the co-creation of responsive urban spaces and more.
